About SWC

Shaping a Just Future for Somalia’s Women and Children

Strengthen Women and Children (SWC) is non-governmental organization founded and officially registered in Somalia in 2022 under the laws of the Federal Republic of Somalia. With a global outlook and a strong local footprint, SWC was established in response to the urgent and growing need to promote the rights, protection, and empowerment of women and children—two groups disproportionately affected by poverty, conflict, and systemic exclusion, particularly in fragile and crisis-affected contexts.

Guided by the principles of gender equality, human dignity, and social justice, SWC operates with the firm conviction that sustainable development, inclusive peace, and resilience cannot be realized without actively addressing the needs, voices, and leadership of women and children.

The organization works to foster equitable and empowered communities through rights-based, participatory, and locally led approaches that prioritize access to education, health, protection, and economic opportunity.

As a non-profit, non-political, and non-religious organization, SWC collaborates with a wide range of stakeholders—government institutions, international organizations, donor agencies, and grassroots actors—to deliver integrated humanitarian and development programs. Through strategic partnerships, evidence-based advocacy, capacity building, and innovative community-level interventions, SWC seeks to dismantle structural barriers and drive transformative change for women, children, and other marginalized populations across Somalia and beyond.
